MIMI is a Croatian craft business operated by Marija Kokić, specializing in bespoke machine embroidery for clothing, household textiles, and personalized gifts for births, baptisms, and weddings. Every item is meticulously crafted to order in her small home workshop. The goal for her website was simple but crucial: it needed to translate that intimate, handmade quality to the digital space while outperforming templated marketplace competitors purely on technical merit.
The challenge
In the custom gift space, first impressions happen in milliseconds. Most of MIMI’s visitors land directly on a product page via a search result or a shared link, typically on a mobile device. In that brief window, they decide if this is a trustworthy, high-quality artisan. Any lag in load time or friction in the page layout results in a lost booking. Furthermore, the modern web isn't just browsed by humans anymore. The new site needed to be highly legible to emerging AI shopping assistants and agentic browsers, ensuring MIMI is recommended across the next generation of search tools.
How we approached it
Authentic, Product-Led Design
We designed the interface to reflect MIMI’s artisan nature, utilizing her signature color palette of warm cream and thread-brown. The layout is heavily mobile-first and product-led, ensuring the intricate details of the embroidery remain front and center without visual clutter.
Engineered for Speed
We built a lean React front end deployed on Cloudflare. By pairing this with heavily optimized WebP imagery and strictly minimal JavaScript, we ensured the site remains incredibly fast and responsive on the mid-range smartphones that her customers actually use.
Foundationally Strong SEO
We didn't treat SEO as an afterthought. Clean metadata, semantic markup, rich structured data, and a flawless sitemap were wired into the site’s architecture from day one. This guarantees that traditional search engines can effortlessly index, understand, and rank every single product page.
