Overview

Scope

  • Responsive website
  • On-page & technical SEO
  • Structured data
  • Performance optimisation
  • Product gallery

MIMI is a Croatian craft business run by Marija Kokić. She does custom machine embroidery on clothing and household textiles, plus personalized gifts for births, baptisms and weddings, all sewn to order in a small home workshop. Her website had one job: carry that handmade quality over to the screen and beat the templated marketplace shops on speed and findability.

The challenge

Most of MIMI’s visitors land straight on a product page from a search result or a shared link, usually on a phone. They decide within seconds whether this is a maker they can trust with a christening gift, and a slow image or a jumpy layout costs a real order. There was a second audience to think about too. AI shopping assistants and agentic browsers are starting to do the browsing for people, so the site had to be readable to them as well.

How I approached it

    01

    Product-led design

The interface borrows MIMI’s own palette of warm cream and thread brown. We designed for phones first and kept the layout quiet, so the embroidery itself does the selling.

    02

    Built for speed

A lean React front end on Cloudflare, WebP images compressed hard, and as little JavaScript as we could get away with. The site stays quick on the mid-range phones her customers actually use.

    03

    SEO from the first commit

Clean metadata, semantic markup, structured data and a complete sitemap went in with the first commit. Search engines can index and rank every product page without tripping over anything.

    04

    Ready for agentic browsing

We checked the site against how AI agents and shopping assistants actually parse pages: clean semantic HTML, working accessibility, content that crawls well. When someone asks an assistant for a personalized baptism gift, MIMI is a site it can read and recommend.

The results

The build scored a clean sweep in Lighthouse. Customers, search engines and AI agents all get the same fast, readable site.
